The brief it came from

“A budgeting app for couples who share some money and keep some separate: a shared pot with this month's spending, each person's own spending, bills coming up and who pays them, savings goals you fill together, and a calm monthly check-in. Draw every image with shapes and icons: no photos, and initials instead of faces.”

Tappy planned and designed Halves from that one brief, at the Studio level with design review on. The art direction it set itself, in short:

Halves feels like a calm kitchen-table conversation, not a spreadsheet: for couples in their late 20s–40s who keep some money together and some apart, and who want fairness to be visible without anyone keeping score. The hero material is the shared pot number and the 'halves' motif.
