What's in the zip
- iOS: a complete AppIcon.appiconset for iPhone and iPad, with Contents.json and the 1024px App Store icon.
- Android: launcher icons from mdpi to xxxhdpi, round icons, adaptive icon layers and the 512px Google Play icon.
- Expo: icon.png and adaptive-icon.png, plus the app.json lines to paste in.
What we check for you
Apple rejects app icons with transparency. Browsers and many image tools still save an alpha channel, even when nothing is see-through. We write the iOS files without one, and fill any see-through areas with your background colour.
We also check your artwork against Android's safe zone. Phones crop adaptive icons into different shapes, and anything outside the middle 66 of 108 units can be trimmed. Turn on Safe zone to see the line.
Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your icon never leaves your device.
What size should my image be?
1024 × 1024 or larger, and square. Smaller images work, but they'll be enlarged for the App Store and may look soft.
Should I round the corners of my icon?
No. iOS and Android apply their own corners, so give it a full square. If your image already has rounded corners, we'll fill them with your background colour.
Does it work with Expo and React Native?
Yes. The zip has an expo folder with the two files Expo needs, and the README has the app.json lines to paste in.
Do I need a Tappy account?
No. The tool is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
