Tappy vs Claude Design

Claude Design is a great all-rounder for prototypes, slides and pages. Tappy does one job: taking a mobile app from an idea to something you can run on your phone.

Free to start. No card needed.

The short version.
Where Tappy pulls ahead of Claude Design.

Claude Design comes from Anthropic and is part of Claude. You chat to make designs, prototypes, slides and one-pagers, then export them or hand off to Claude Code. Tappy runs on Claude models too, so this isn't about which AI is smarter. It's about what each product is built to do.

Built for phones

Every Tappy project starts as an iOS or Android app. Preview on real device sizes, and Tappy flags anything that spills off the edge.

Leave with native code and Figma

Export an Expo project in React Native, or paste editable layers into Figma. Neither is on Claude Design's export list.

Credits just for design

Claude Design shares your Claude limits with everything else, including Claude Code. Tappy credits only pay for design.

Professional, not vibecoded.
With a design review built in.

AI can get a screen most of the way there, then leave the mistakes a designer would catch in seconds. At Studio level and above, Tappy looks at a real screenshot of each new screen, reviews it like a design lead, and fixes what it finds. These are real catches, not mock-ups.

From Tappy's review of Darkline

“The caption under the big ‘47’ was breaking into ‘OBSERVATIONS’ and an orphaned ‘· 2024’.”
Darkline, first draft
First draft. The caption broke into “Observations” and a stray “· 2024”.
Darkline, after Tappy's review
After review. It reads as two clear lines: what it counts, and when.

Tappy's design rules also rule out the habits that give AI designs away:

  • Gradient text
  • Purple-to-blue gradients
  • Neon glows
  • Sparkle icons and “AI-powered” badges
  • Emoji used as icons
  • Decorative blobs
  • Charts with no labels

When Claude Design might suit you better

  • You already pay for Claude and want quick designs in the same place.
  • You need slides, one-pagers or marketing pages as well as app screens.
  • Your team wants designs built from an existing codebase, through Claude Code.

Good questions.

Is Tappy better than Claude Design for mobile apps?

For mobile apps, we think so, because that's all Tappy does. For decks and general visual work, Claude Design is the better fit.

Does Tappy use Claude?

Yes. Tappy's designs are made with Claude models. Tappy adds a design playbook, a built-in design review, and mobile exports. Tappy isn't made by or affiliated with Anthropic.

Can Claude Design export to Figma?

Figma isn't in the export list on its help page, which covers zip, PDF, PPTX, Google Slides and standalone HTML, plus sending to other tools. Tappy pastes editable layers straight into Figma.
